IKEA has rolled out its new Varmblixt LED smart lamp in the US, following its European debut ahead of a wider launch planned for April 2026. The latest smart lighting device offers flexible, colorful illumination packed into a donut-shaped design.
The Varmblixt smart lamp retains the unique ”doughnut” shape of the original model and can function either as a tabletop lamp or be mounted on a wall. It supports adjustable brightness and features both white and color lighting modes. IKEA estimates the lamp’s LED light source will last around 25,000 hours.

The Varmblixt integrates with IKEA’s Dirigera smart hub and the IKEA Home Smart app, enabling users to customize lighting settings and control multiple smart home devices from one interface. Thanks to support for the Matter-over-Thread standard, the lamp is also compatible with major smart ecosystems, including Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and Amazon Alexa. A preconfigured remote control is included for adjusting brightness and color without the app.
Priced at $99.99, the Varmblixt LED smart lamp is available now through IKEA’s US online store and in many of its retail outlets nationwide. It represents IKEA’s ongoing push to expand its affordable smart home product lineup to compete with offerings from tech giants like Philips Hue and LIFX.
With smart lighting becoming a crowded field dominated by ecosystem players, IKEA’s approach leans on its recognizable design and integration flexibility via Matter to appeal to a broad range of users. Watching how aggressively IKEA scales its smart home portfolio will be key, especially as rival furniture brands explore similar smart lighting products.
