HP is rolling out the next generation of its EliteBook business laptops with the launch of the EliteBook 8 G2 series, replacing the EliteBook 8 G1. Alongside this, the company also introduced new models in the EliteBook 6 lineup, including the HP EliteBook 6 G2q.
The new EliteBook 8 range features two main variants: the EliteBook 8 G2a and EliteBook 8 G2i. HP has not revealed full processor details yet, but the G2a models will run on the AMD Gorgon Point platform-a modest upgrade over the previous Strix Point series, offering slight improvements in performance and power efficiency. Meanwhile, the G2i models are expected to be powered by Intel’s upcoming Panther Lake chips, including Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 processors.
EliteBook 8 G2 model lineup and display options
The EliteBook 8 G2 series comes in several configurations:
- EliteBook 8 G2a available in 14- and 16-inch models
- EliteBook 8 G2i offered in 13-inch, 13-inch convertible, 14-inch, and 16-inch versions
All models will offer a variety of display options, supporting resolutions up to 2.5K and refresh rates up to 120Hz with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) for the 14- and 16-inch variants. Buyers can choose between IPS and OLED panels at launch.
Memory and storage specifications for EliteBook 8 G2
Memory configurations vary: some versions come with soldered LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, while others offer user-replaceable DDR5 options running at either 5600 or 6400 MHz. Storage capacities range from 256 GB to 1 TB depending on the chosen configuration.
HP EliteBook 8 G2 release date and pricing details
The HP EliteBook 8 G2a and G2i laptops are expected to hit the market in April 2026. Pricing details have yet to be announced.
HP’s EliteBook series caters to enterprise users prioritizing reliability, security, and performance, often considered a rival to Lenovo’s ThinkPad and Dell’s Latitude lines. The inclusion of both advanced AMD and Intel processors allows HP to cover a broad spectrum of corporate needs, though the performance gains are evolutionary rather than revolutionary.
With the EliteBook 8 G2, HP focuses on high-refresh-rate screens and a flexible lineup with convertible options, aiming to meet growing demands for versatile productivity devices in the business segment. The April 2026 release positions these models against upcoming competitor launches, making processor and pricing details key to how well they will stand out.
