Govee has introduced the Outdoor Chromatic String Lights, smart outdoor bulbs that can display multiple colors simultaneously within a single lamp-bringing a striking new twist to outdoor lighting.
Available now on Govee’s official site and Amazon, the lights come in two sizes:
- 10-meter strand with 10 bulbs, priced at $169.99
- 20-meter version with 20 bulbs, priced at $299.99
The key innovation is the ”one bulb with a rainbow effect” technology. Each lamp contains 55 RGB LEDs, enabling smooth, rich color gradients and complex animations because all bulbs are individually addressable. This lets users create mesmerizing multi-color scenes, unlike typical single-color or limited RGB string lights.
The design also focuses on blending into outdoor environments even when off, making them visually subtle. Built for year-round outdoor use, they carry an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and boast a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours-roughly a decade of use.
For simpler illumination, each lamp also includes 54 white LEDs that deliver brightness up to 240 lumens per bulb, making these Govee’s brightest outdoor string lights to date.
The companion app unlocks extensive customization: users can paint light effects by hand, choose from over 100 preset scenes, or upload their own patterns. An AI assistant enables text- or mood-based lighting suggestions, providing a convenience level usually reserved for premium smart lights.

To improve smart home compatibility, the string lights support the Matter protocol. This integration allows easier connection with ecosystems like Amazon Alexa and Google Home, enabling flexible voice commands, scheduling, and scene control across multiple platforms.
