Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 leaks are starting to paint a familiar picture: Samsung’s next clamshell foldable looks less like a reinvention and more like a tidy trim job. New high-resolution CAD renders suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will keep almost the same silhouette as the Galaxy Z Flip 7, with the main visible change being a slightly thinner body.

That is a very Samsung move: keep the design language familiar, nudge the hardware, and hope buyers notice the polish rather than the lack of drama. It also mirrors what we’ve already seen with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 renders, which point to evolution over surprise across the foldable lineup.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 dimensions compared with Galaxy Z Flip 7

The leaked measurements show the Galaxy Z Flip 8 at 85.4 x 75.4 x 13.2mm when folded, compared with 85.5 x 75.2 x 13.7mm for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Unfolded, it is said to measure 166.8 x 75.4 x 6.6mm, versus 166.7 x 75.2 x 6.5mm on the previous model.

  • Folded: 85.4 x 75.4 x 13.2mm
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7 folded: 85.5 x 75.2 x 13.7mm
  • Unfolded: 166.8 x 75.4 x 6.6mm
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7 unfolded: 166.7 x 75.2 x 6.5mm

So yes, it is thinner. But by about 0.5mm when folded, which is the sort of upgrade Samsung can sell on a slide and most people will never feel in a pocket. The leak also lines up with an earlier report from November that said a slimmer Z Flip model was on the way.

Camera and chipset rumors are still conservative

Beyond the thinner frame, there is not much evidence yet that Samsung is planning a bigger shake-up. A report from January said the camera hardware will not change much, and other leaks point to the Exynos 2600 as the likely chip. That would fit Samsung’s recent habit of using its own silicon in the Flip line, after the switch to Exynos 2500 with the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

For buyers, that is the awkward part of foldable refresh cycles: the engineering gets better in small steps, but the headline features do not always move at the same pace. Rivals are not standing still either, which makes incremental upgrades harder to sell unless the price or battery life gets a surprise boost.

Samsung’s July 22 event could steal the spotlight

Samsung may unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8 on July 22, 2026, in London, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The company is also expected to show off the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, a model reportedly aimed at Apple’s first foldable, which suggests Samsung may be reserving its biggest attention-grabber for the larger device rather than the Flip.

That leaves the Z Flip 8 in an interesting spot: polished, familiar, and probably good enough for people coming from older models, but not obviously worth rushing for if you already own a Z Flip 7. If Samsung wants to make a thinner shell feel like a meaningful upgrade, the next leaks will need to do more than shave fractions of a millimeter.
