Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra is poised to be one of the first smartphones to feature next-gen LPDDR6 RAM, according to recent leaks. The flagship device is expected to pair this memory upgrade with Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor.

Moving to LPDDR6 represents a significant boost in performance. The new memory standard promises higher bandwidth and better energy efficiency, thanks to reworked channel architecture. For users, this could translate to smoother multitasking, faster app loading, and improved performance in demanding tasks like gaming or on-device AI processing.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series itself is rumored to come in two variants: the base model and a more powerful Pro version. The Pro chip might boast an Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB of GMEM, while the standard edition could use an Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB. Both are expected to be fabricated on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process and feature a 2+3+3 CPU core configuration.

Samsung continues to develop its own Exynos 2700 and Exynos 2800 chips, but early indications suggest the S27 Ultra will primarily rely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors across most regions – continuing the trend seen in recent Galaxy Ultra models.

These significant hardware upgrades are unlikely to come cheap. With DRAM and storage prices already on the rise, integrating LPDDR6 and advanced Snapdragon chips will likely push the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s price higher.
