Samsung has started rolling out a significant new software update to the Galaxy S26 series that introduces interoperability with Apple’s AirDrop. This update allows Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra users in South Korea to wirelessly share files with iPhones and other AirDrop-enabled devices through Samsung’s Quick Share feature.
The update, identified by firmware version S94xNKSU1AZCF, weighs over 700 MB and includes the February 2026 Android security patch. While it doesn’t include the newer March patch, the priority here is clearly enhancing file-sharing capabilities across ecosystems-a feature long requested by Samsung users comparing Quick Share to Apple’s AirDrop convenience.
To use AirDrop compatibility via Quick Share, Galaxy S26 users need Google Play Services updated to version 26.11 or later and must install Quick Share’s latest version (13.8.51.30) from the Galaxy Store. Apple devices must have their AirDrop visibility set to ”Everyone” to allow file transfers.
This cross-platform upgrade reduces friction for users who switch between Android and iOS devices by enabling direct file sharing. Samsung is initially releasing this update in South Korea, with a global rollout expected soon. This move aligns with broader industry efforts for better interoperability, seen in Microsoft’s Phone Link and Google’s recent syncing of Messages with iOS.
The update can be manually installed by going to Settings > Software update > Check for updates on Galaxy S26 devices. A stable Wi-Fi connection and sufficient battery are recommended before starting the installation, given the download size.
