Disney+ is rolling out a new feature called Verts, a vertical video feed that showcases short clips from movies and TV shows on the platform. Inspired by TikTok’s swipeable format, Verts is designed to help users quickly discover content.
Verts offers a ”new way to discover stories” on Disney+, presenting a scrollable vertical stream where viewers can watch highlights, scene snippets, and standout moments from the Disney+ library.
Accessing Verts is simple: just tap the Verts icon in the Disney+ mobile app’s navigation bar. From there, users can scroll through clips, add favorites to their watchlist, or jump straight into full episodes or films.
The Walt Disney Company reports early tests of Verts have boosted user engagement. This increase is partly driven by a new recommendation algorithm that personalizes clip selection tailored to each viewer.
This initial launch is just the first step toward expanding vertical video content on Disney+. Future updates could include creator-generated material, fresh story formats, and more personalized features targeting fans of various franchises.
While TikTok popularized vertical short-form video, Disney+ entering this space signals that streaming platforms are adapting to shifting viewing habits. Unlike TikTok’s user-generated feed, Disney+ focuses on leveraging its deep content libraries and personalized recommendations to surface beloved scenes in a quick-hit format.
Expect Verts to evolve beyond simple clips, potentially increasing interactivity and franchise engagement as Disney tests new ways to keep audiences hooked in an age where bite-sized video is dominant.
