Crimson Desert, the fantasy open-world action-adventure from South Korean developer Pearl Abyss, has hit a major sales milestone just days after its release. The game surpassed three million copies sold across all targeted platforms within five days, building on the initial success of two million sales recorded on launch day alone.

Launching on March 20 across PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), Mac (App Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Crimson Desert garnered significant attention from the start. Pre-orders had been open for months, indicating strong anticipation. Pearl Abyss expressed gratitude to players who have ventured into the world of Pywel and shared the journey.

The developer also committed to refining the game based on player feedback. A new patch (1.00.03), released shortly after launch, addressed key requests such as improved controls, added personal item storage, new fast-travel points, and rebalanced boss difficulty, demonstrating responsiveness to the community’s needs.

Interestingly, Crimson Desert’s Steam user rating grew from a mixed 57% at launch to a much more favorable 74%, reflecting improvements and growing player satisfaction. Such a trajectory isn’t common for big open-world titles that often struggle with first-week reviews, marking an encouraging start for the game’s lifespan.

The early sales success sets a high bar for Pearl Abyss, which previously gained acclaim with titles like Black Desert Online. Whether Crimson Desert will maintain momentum amid stiff competition on next-gen platforms remains to be seen. However, the promising start suggests it could carve out a solid niche among fantasy RPG fans worldwide.
