Casio has unveiled the AQ-240E series on its US website, expanding its Vintage collection with three new models: AQ-240E-2A, AQ-240E-4A, and AQ-240E-7A2. These retro-inspired watches with hybrid analog-digital displays are set to hit the shelves in April 2024.

Each model features a soft pastel dial – the 2A sports a blue sunray finish, the 4A comes in a matte orange tone, and the 7A2 offers a muted white shade. The design blends classic and modern elements with analog hands paired with a small digital display positioned at 6 o’clock.

The casing measures 40.9 × 35.8 × 8.1 mm and weighs roughly 51 grams. Made from resin with a chrome finish, it sits on a stainless steel bracelet. Its rounded square shape softens the overall look, giving it a more contemporary feel compared to traditional Casio models.

Powered by Casio’s 5154 module, the AQ-240E offers key features like a second time zone, a stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second, a daily alarm, hourly signal, and an automatic calendar. The analog hands display the primary time, while the digital panel handles extra functions. The watch maintains accuracy within ±30 seconds per month.

Battery life is rated at about three years. While the water resistance rating hasn’t been specified, the watch is designed for everyday wear and should withstand occasional splashes but not serious water exposure.

Though Casio hasn’t officially announced the price, previous reports suggest the AQ-240E will retail for around $60, aligning with the pricing of comparable vintage-inspired Casio models.

Casio’s persistent focus on hybrid analog-digital timepieces taps into the growing trend for nostalgic yet functional accessories. With this release, the AQ-240E competes with affordable retro watches from brands like Timex and Seiko. It will be interesting to see how this model’s design and features resonate with collectors and everyday users who want a subtle blast from the past without sacrificing modern convenience.
