British audio brand Cambridge Audio is breathing new life into its older network audio gear from 2014 onwards. Starting February 24, 2026, owners of devices running the StreamMagic platform will receive over-the-air firmware updates adding native support for streaming services Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and Amazon Music via the StreamMagic app.
This upgrade brings features once exclusive to the newer generation StreamMagic 4 platform to previous models, including network streamers, AV receivers, and preamplifiers spanning several product lines by Cambridge Audio. The update lets these ”classic” devices tap into more diverse and popular music streaming options without needing new hardware.
The move reflects a growing trend among high-end audio manufacturers to extend the lifespan of their digital products by adding software-based streaming capabilities. This helps bridge the gap between legacy hardware and modern streaming expectations. While early StreamMagic devices launched before 2014 will not receive these updates, this refresh covers a wide range of Cambridge Audio’s popular models released from 2014 onward.

Qobuz, Spotify, and Amazon Music added to older StreamMagic devices
By embracing over-the-air updates, Cambridge Audio is offering users a valuable upgrade path-especially in a market where streaming service support can quickly become outdated as new platforms emerge. Integrating Qobuz, Spotify, and Amazon Music directly into older devices means less reliance on external streaming gadgets and better ease of use through a unified app ecosystem.

This firmware update, reported by Salonav AudioVideo in March 2026, is expected to significantly enhance user experience without requiring hardware upgrades. Cambridge Audio products featuring the StreamMagic platform continue to be relevant players in the audiophile streaming segment thanks to these software updates.
