Bluetti has officially launched the Elite 400 XXL, a portable power station boasting a hefty 3,840 Wh (almost 4 kWh) capacity. The unit is available now directly from the manufacturer at a recommended price of €2,999, but an introductory discount of €1,100 lowers the cost to €1,899 for early buyers.

Positioned above the earlier Bluetti Elite 300, the Elite 400 XXL aims to deliver longer runtimes for household devices. It can power a 1,200 W tool for nearly three hours on a single charge, making it a solid choice for off-grid work or emergency backup.

Bluetti Elite 400 XXL power output and ports

The Elite 400 XXL provides a continuous 2,600 W output with 3,900 W peak capacity. Its front panel includes two AC outlets, alongside a variety of other ports: USB-A and USB-C with up to 120 W output, and a 12 V car port for versatility.

Charging capabilities and connectivity features

Charging flexibility is a highlight: the Elite 400 XXL supports up to 3,300 W charging when combining AC and DC inputs, while pure solar charging taps out at 1,000 W. Additional features include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi control via a mobile app and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) mode for seamless power during outages. While helpful, these capabilities are becoming standard even in less expensive models.

Portability and design of the Bluetti Elite 400 XXL

Weighing around 39 kg (86 lbs), the Elite 400 XXL is hefty but still lighter than many comparable high-capacity solar generators. To ease transport, Bluetti equipped it with two wheels, robust side handles, and a telescoping pull handle-features tailored for mobility despite its size.

Bluetti Elite 400 XXL in the portable power station market

Bluetti competes in a crowded portable power station field dominated by brands like Goal Zero, Jackery, and EcoFlow, all pushing for larger capacities and faster charging. At nearly 4 kWh, the Elite 400 XXL sits comfortably in the mid-to-high tier, appealing to users who need a reliable workhorse that’s still reasonably portable.

Going forward, watch how Bluetti balances power, portability, and price as the market shifts toward higher capacity lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries and more integrated smart features. The Elite 400 XXL’s combination of size, output, and connectivity positions it well, but with rapidly evolving tech and increasing competition, customer expectations will only rise.
