The Mimms Museum of Technology and Art in Roswell, Georgia, is launching a substantial tribute to Apple’s 50-year journey with its iNSPIRE: 50 Years of Innovation from Apple exhibition on April 1. Spanning 20,000 square feet, this show features over 2,000 artifacts tracing Apple’s rise from its early days to the global powerhouse it is today.
Despite claims from the museum that this is the world’s largest Apple collection, records indicate the title actually belongs to Italy’s All About Apple Museum in Savona, boasting 9,000 Apple-related items-with interactive displays letting visitors test classic devices. Mimms’ collection, while second in size, offers a rich and engaging exploration of Apple’s innovations.
Visitors can expect more than just hardware on display. The Roswell exhibit includes rare collector’s items, unique documents, and insider stories about the development of Apple products. The museum’s approach mixes technology and art, incorporating hands-on experiences with vintage Apple computers and creative installations inspired by Apple’s landmark advertising campaigns.
Among interactive features are a motion-based trivia game, an iCloud-themed floor that responds to visitors, and a large digital drawing wall using iPads. These elements aim to make the celebration tangible and playful rather than just nostalgic, offering fans and newcomers a vibrant way to experience Apple’s influence on technology and culture.
Admission fees are:
- $22 for adults
- $16 for children aged 4 to 17
- $66 for a family of four
- Discounts available for seniors, military personnel, and college students
Interestingly, just a day after Mimms’ exhibition opens, the Apple Museum Utrecht in the Netherlands will debut on April 2. That facility plans to showcase an iconic wall of 100 iMac G3s and a full-scale replica of the Jobs family garage, highlighting the global appetite for preserving Apple’s 50-year legacy in unique ways.
