Samsung’s next foldables are edging closer to launch, and India’s BIS database is giving away more of the lineup than Samsung probably wanted. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, a wider Fold variant, and a new pair of earbuds have all turned up in certification filings, which is usually a sign that the hardware is well past the drawing-board stage.

The biggest clue is the battery paperwork. Multiple model numbers tied to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the rumored Galaxy Z Wide Fold have cleared BIS, and that tends to happen late enough that launch chatter starts getting real. Samsung has not confirmed the wider model’s name, but the filings make it hard to ignore.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Wide Fold battery details

The Fold 8 and the wider variant are both expected to move up to 5,000mAh batteries, at least in advertised capacity. That would be a tidy jump from the 4,400mAh figure Samsung has stuck with for a while, and it also fits the broader foldable trend: rivals keep pushing endurance, so standing still starts to look lazy.

Charging may get a small bump too. The Fold 8 and Wide Fold are tipped for 45W wired charging, while the Flip 8 looks set to stay at 25W. That is basically Samsung being Samsung: one model gets a meaningful nudge, the clamshell keeps its familiar limits.

Why the wider Galaxy Z Fold matters

The most interesting rumor here is the Wide Fold itself. Leaks suggest Samsung may be testing a 4:3 aspect ratio when the device is open, which would push it closer to tablet territory than the usual narrow Fold shape. If that happens, it would be one of the cleaner design experiments Samsung has made in years, and a clear attempt to make the foldable tablet experience feel less cramped.

There are also a few extra battery model numbers in the BIS filings that do not cleanly match the main devices. Those could be test units or alternate versions, which is the sort of paperwork mystery that keeps leakers busy and engineers slightly annoyed.

Galaxy Buds Able are in the mix too

The filings also point to a new audio product, widely expected to be the Galaxy Buds Able with model number SM-U600. Samsung has not said much about them yet, but their appearance alongside the foldables suggests they may debut in the same window.

That timing lines up with the rest of the evidence. CAD renders are already circulating, BIS has done its part, and the launch window is now looking like July 2026. The only real question is whether Samsung uses the moment to refine the Fold line – or to split it into even more variations and hope buyers enjoy the buffet.
