Xiaomi has unveiled the Mijia Garment Steamer 2, a steam iron designed to tackle stubborn wrinkles and sterilize clothes. Set to enter crowdfunding on April 6 through Xiaomi’s Youpin platform, it will retail for 599 yuan (about $86), with an early campaign discount dropping the price to 509 yuan (around $74).
Delivering a robust steam output of 120 grams per minute, the Mijia Garment Steamer 2 penetrates deep into fabric fibers to smooth out even the toughest creases. Its 500 kPa electromagnetic pump maintains consistent steam pressure, while the steam jet reaches up to 150 cm-ideal for vertical steaming and hard-to-reach spots.
The steamer runs on a dual-boiler heating system-one for the main unit and another for the iron head-generating micro-dry steam that won’t soak your clothes. It heats up fast, reaching operating temperature in just 65 seconds.
Xiaomi offers six temperature presets tailored to different fabric types:
- Cotton (145°C)
- Silk (110°C)
- Synthetics (125°C)
- Linen (160°C)
- Blends (115°C)
- Wool (130°C)
Temperature is precisely controlled using NTC technology, ensuring stable heat without damaging garments.
Its 8.75-inch ceramic ironing plate glides smoothly over fabrics, while its water tank capacity allows steaming up to 15 clothing items per fill. Users can switch between dry steaming to shape garments and wet steaming to tackle deep wrinkles.
Additional perks include an auto shut-off after eight minutes of inactivity, a color display for temperature adjustments, an ergonomic carry handle, built-in cable management, and a heat-resistant silicone base.
Beyond wrinkle removal, Xiaomi claims the steamer delivers 99.99% sterilization, effectively eradicating dust mites and neutralizing odors through high-temperature steam.
While vertical garment steamers are common in global markets-with brands like Philips and Tefal offering similar models-Xiaomi’s focus on rapid heat-up, strong steam output, and sterilization features makes the Mijia Garment Steamer 2 a compelling budget alternative.
