Apple has slashed the price of its Studio Display XDR with the VESA mount adapter by $400, bringing it down from $3,299 to $2,899. Meanwhile, the version with the adjustable-height Apple stand remains at the original price of $3,299.
When Apple launched the Studio Display XDR in early March, both mounting options-Apple’s signature stand and the third-party-compatible VESA adapter-carried the same price tag. Now, the price drop applies only to the VESA-adapter version, making it a more attractive choice for users planning to mount the monitor on custom arms or setups. The optional nano-texture glass, which reduces glare further, still commands an extra $300.

Even with the $400 discount, the Studio Display XDR remains a premium-priced 27-inch monitor. What sets it apart are its unique features, most notably the Apple A19 Pro ARM chip-the same powerhouse found in the iPhone 17 Pro. This processor packs 12GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage, giving the monitor more raw power than the MacBook Neo. Apple leverages this capacity to enhance the 12-megapixel webcam’s image quality and power six built-in speakers.
The display boasts a full 5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, driven by a mini-LED backlight divided into 2,304 local dimming zones. Apple claims a standard dynamic range brightness of 1,000 nits, with a peak HDR brightness reaching 2,000 nits. The Studio Display XDR also includes dual Thunderbolt 5 ports and an integrated USB-C hub with two additional ports.
Studio Display XDR price and features comparison
- Studio Display XDR with VESA mount: $2,899 (was $3,299)
- Studio Display XDR with adjustable-height Apple stand: $3,299
- Optional nano-texture glass upgrade: +$300
Apple’s price reduction of the VESA model positions the Studio Display XDR as a more competitive option against high-end monitors from brands like Dell and LG. These competitors offer 5K or ultrawide displays with variable refresh rates but generally lack the dedicated custom chips or integrated audio-visual hardware found in the Studio Display XDR. This combination of Apple silicon and premium panel technology makes it a compelling choice for creative professionals within the Apple ecosystem.
