Casio is launching its new Pro Trek PRW-69 series in April 2026, featuring two models: the PRW-69Y-1 and PRW-69YB-3. Both share the same core specs but differ mainly in strap material and color, designed to appeal to outdoor enthusiasts and travelers who want rugged, sensor-packed wristwear.

The watches measure 52.5 × 46.4 × 13.8 mm and weigh 73 grams. Their bodies combine stainless steel with biopolymer resin and sport a bezel finished with a gray ion coating. The standout feature is the central part of the case made from a fire-resistant material rated V-0, which self-extinguishes when the flame source is removed. The straps are reinforced with cellulose nanofiber (CNF) for added durability, with rubber construction on the black-band model and green fabric on the version built for a more rugged, ”adventure-ready” look.

The PRW-69Y-1 model comes with a traditional black resin strap, while the PRW-69YB-3 sports a green textile strap that echoes a hiking vibe. Both fit wrists measuring between 145 and 215 mm, making these among the more compact options within Casio’s Pro Trek line, which is generally known for larger, outdoor-focused watches.

Under the hood, the PRW-69 models feature Casio’s Triple Sensor technology, including:

  • Digital compass with up to 60 seconds continuous running and real-time direction updates
  • Altimeter measuring from -700 to 10,000 meters
  • Barometer with a pressure trend graph
  • Thermometer

The display uses a duplex LCD setup that overlays compass data on the main screen for straightforward navigation.

Additional features include:

  • Sunrise and sunset times
  • World clocks covering 31 time zones
  • Five alarms and a countdown timer
  • Multi Band 6 radio time synchronization
  • Solar power via Casio’s Tough Solar system, with battery life up to six months on a full charge during regular use and up to 26 months in power-saving mode
  • Water resistance up to 100 meters
  • Operating temperature down to -10°C
  • Customizable LED backlight with afterglow for low-light visibility

Casio hasn’t announced pricing or regional availability details yet, but the Pro Trek PRW-69 series is expected to hit stores worldwide by April 2026.

With other outdoor or adventure watches from Garmin, Suunto, and Apple’s rugged-focused models, Casio continues to cater to traditionalists seeking analog-digital hybrids loaded with practical sensors and durable materials. The inclusion of fire-resistant casing in the PRW-69 is a rare feature in this segment, potentially carving out a new niche for explorers concerned about extreme conditions.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see whether Casio integrates more advanced smart features or expands its choice of eco-friendly, tough materials in future Pro Trek models. As outdoor gear becomes more tech-savvy, the challenge remains balancing ruggedness, battery life, and useful sensor data in a wearable that can survive literal fire.
