OPPO will unveil its flagship Find X9 Ultra smartphone globally on April 21, 2026. The main highlight is a 50-megapixel telephoto lens co-engineered with Hasselblad, offering a true 10x optical zoom and an industry-first 20x zoom that maintains optical quality.
- Launch event scheduled for April 21, 2026.
- 50MP telephoto sensor developed in partnership with Hasselblad.
- First smartphone to deliver 20x zoom without sacrificing optical clarity.
”In the Find X series, we’ve always pushed for camera perfection,” said Pete Lau, OPPO’s senior VP and product director. ”With the Find X9 Ultra, we took a huge leap forward. Our 50MP Hasselblad telephoto lens delivers genuine 10x optical zoom and, for the first time in the industry, 20x zoom that preserves optical quality. We’re literally expanding the boundaries of zoom capabilities in smartphones.”

Most flagship phones today top out at 4x or 5x optical zoom because there’s simply no room inside the chassis for a longer zoom lens. OPPO’s solution is a periscope system called Quintuple Prism Reflection, which uses five consecutive light reflections. This design achieves the physical length needed for 10x optical zoom while shrinking the camera module by about 30%, keeping the phone slim.

The optical setup also includes a Pristine Optical Path, featuring a prism made from three precision elements with a nanometer-scale aperture and an air capsule in between. This architecture reduces optical distortions, improving light transmission to the sensor for sharper detail and more accurate color reproduction.
Sensor-shift stabilization for sharp images at high zoom
Shooting at 10x zoom demands rock-solid image stabilization. OPPO has developed an enhanced sensor-shift optical stabilization system with a wider stabilization range. This system ensures sharp, steady shots even at maximum zoom.
Further technical specifications will be revealed at the April 21 event.
OPPO’s aggressive push on zoom technology comes amid stiff competition from Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi, all racing to deliver better telephoto cameras. If OPPO’s claims hold up, the Find X9 Ultra could reset expectations for smartphone zoom performance, especially with the effort to keep the device slim despite a complex periscope design.
What to watch: the actual image quality and stabilization performance at 20x zoom, and whether OPPO’s optical design will influence future industry standards for compact, high-magnification telephoto lenses.
