Vivo has unveiled the X300s in China, targeting photography enthusiasts with a Zeiss-certified camera setup and packing impressive specs like the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and a hefty 7100mAh battery. This model marks the first in Vivo’s X series to feature a high-refresh-rate 1.5K AMOLED screen, sharpening its appeal beyond imaging to overall multimedia consumption and performance.

The Vivo X300s sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 2800 × 1260 resolution, boasting a 144Hz refresh rate-a first for the X series. Its panel incorporates 8T LTPO tech and a Q10 Plus luminescent substrate, delivering vivid colors across 100% of the P3 gamut. Peak brightness hits an eye-popping 4500 nits, alongside HDR10+ support and high-frequency PWM dimming, making it well-suited for outdoor visibility and smooth gaming experiences including native 144FPS in popular titles like Honor of Kings.

Under the hood, the phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 paired with Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip that handles advanced image processing tasks. The device offers configurations of 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, launched on Android 16 with Origin OS 6. This combination places it firmly in the upper-midrange segment, rivaling similar offerings from competitors who are also enhancing camera capabilities and display tech alongside chipset upgrades.

Zeiss-certified camera system with 200MP main sensor

The highlight of the Vivo X300s is its Zeiss-branded camera system. The primary sensor is a 200MP Samsung HPBr unit with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor size and f/1.68 aperture, featuring optical image stabilization and CIPA 4.5 certification. This sensor promises detailed, bright shots even in challenging light.

For versatility, the phone includes a 50MP ultra-wide lens and an equally powerful 50MP Sony periscope telephoto camera with Zeiss APO certification, providing 3.5x optical zoom and telephoto macro capabilities. This lens also features Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating and OIS. Additionally, the new Zoom Flash II technology enhances color accuracy by 14% using upgraded LEDs, and there are over ten cinematic lighting modes.

The front-facing camera is no slouch either, sporting a 50MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, ensuring high-resolution selfies and video calls. Vivo complements these hardware specs with AI-driven features such as Blueprint Color Palette for personalized filter creation and AI Creation Camera, which adjusts to different shooting scenarios like cosplay or travel, processing images in real time without distorting facial features.

Design, battery capacity, and connectivity features

The phone measures 161.98 × 75.48 × 8 mm and weighs 217g. Its robustness is confirmed by IP68 and IP69 certifications for water and dust resistance, unusual for this tier. It includes an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers with Hi-Fi audio support, plus USB Type-C with audio capabilities.

Connectivity is modern with 5G SA/NSA support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and comprehensive GPS including India’s NavIC. The sizeable 7100mAh battery supports 90W wired fast charging, 40W wireless charging, and reverse charging, beating many rivals that settle for smaller cells or slower charging speeds.

Vivo also unveiled a G2 teleconverter lens accessory to complement the X300s, featuring a 15-element Zeiss APO optical design and weighing 153g. It enables extended zoom photography and can handle 200mm portrait videos, catering to advanced mobile photographers who want more zoom reach and optical quality.

The Vivo X300s launch prices are as follows:

  • 12GB RAM / 256GB storage: 4,999 yuan
  • 16GB RAM / 1TB storage: 6,999 yuan
Pre-orders have begun in China, with sales starting on April 3.
