Lenovo has unveiled the Erazer XP6 OWS, a budget-friendly pair of open-ear wireless earbuds priced at roughly $42. Pre-orders are live now, with shipments expected by the end of April. Buyers should be aware that import duties might apply depending on their country.

These earbuds use an open-ear design, meaning they rest outside the ear canal rather than inside, allowing ambient sounds to pass through. This makes them ideal for people who want to stay aware of their surroundings while listening.

Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.4, but the buds lack the LDAC codec, so don’t expect high-res audio streaming. This omission is unsurprising given the device’s entry-level price point.

The charging case doubles as a control hub with a built-in display. From the case’s screen, users can manage music playback, activate voice commands, remotely trigger their smartphone’s camera, and check the time and date.

Lenovo promises up to 60 hours of total battery life. Playback controls and call handling are also accessible via touch-sensitive controls on the earbuds themselves, letting users skip pulling out their phone or opening the case.

Comparatively, open-ear earbuds remain a niche in the wireless audio space dominated by brands like Apple, Samsung, and Sony, which focus largely on in-ear or over-ear noise-isolating designs. Lenovo’s Erazer XP6 OWS targets those who want situational awareness at a low price without advanced audio codecs or active noise cancellation.

As open-ear designs gain traction for outdoor and sports use, it will be interesting to see if Lenovo maintains its niche with the Erazer XP6 OWS or expands feature sets in future releases, especially around audio quality and connectivity upgrades.
