Google has rolled out three AI-powered features for Google TV, leveraging its Gemini platform first unveiled at CES 2026. These updates aim to make content discovery smarter and viewing more interactive.
The standout addition is ”Enhanced Visual Assistance.” When searching for sports matches, users now see real-time scores and where to stream the game. Similarly, recipe searches can now include related video tutorials, bridging the gap between search and action.
Another major upgrade is the ”Deep Dive” mode. It transforms content browsing into an interactive learning experience by offering detailed, presentation-style explanations on topics ranging from economics to science and tech. Viewers can ask follow-up questions, getting richer and more personalized insights instead of passive viewing.
The third feature delivers Gemini-powered sports summaries, similar to news briefings but focused solely on sports leagues. Users can request concise, narrated recaps for leagues like the NBA, NHL, MLS, NWSL, and NCAA college basketball, keeping fans rapidly updated on their favorite competitions.
At launch, Deep Dive and sports recaps will be available only on Gemini-enabled devices in the US. Enhanced Visual Assistance is already rolling out across the US and Canada. Google plans to expand these features internationally throughout 2026, targeting Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
Google TV’s new Gemini integration signals a push to rival Amazon’s X-Ray on Fire TV and Samsung’s Smart Hub, both of which blend AI and content discovery to keep viewers engaged. As streaming platforms become more crowded, these AI tools help users find more relevant information and make watching more interactive.
