Apple’s iOS 26.4 update introduces new features that enhance music discovery and improve family account payment flexibility. The key addition is the AI-powered Playlist Playground in Apple Music, which creates song playlists complete with titles and descriptions based on user text prompts. Additionally, concert discovery tools help users find nearby gigs from their favorite artists, and full-screen backgrounds have been added to album and playlist pages.
Apple has also improved its Family Sharing feature, allowing each adult family member to add their own payment method for purchases. This replaces the previous system where only the family organizer’s payment method was used, reducing potential payment issues within shared accounts.
Other iOS 26.4 additions include eight new emojis such as an orca, trombone, landslide, ballet dancer, and distorted face. Apple has enhanced keyboard typing accuracy during fast input and introduced new accessibility improvements. These include an updated ”reduce bright effects” feature to limit sudden flashes when interacting with certain UI elements, easier access to subtitle and caption settings, and more consistent application of the ”reduce motion” setting to minimize animation effects.
The iOS 26.4 update coincides with macOS 26.4, which features a compact tab bar in Safari and new settings to set charging thresholds between 80 and 100 percent to extend battery health. These updates continue Apple’s steady enhancement of the user experience across its device ecosystem.
