Apple has officially announced the dates for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, scheduled for June 8-12. The hybrid event will take place both online and at Apple’s Cupertino campus. WWDC 2026 will spotlight major advances in artificial intelligence, alongside updates to iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and developer tools.

After largely sidestepping AI at last year’s WWDC-which focused on the Liquid Glass interface design-Apple’s 2026 event marks a significant shift. The headline is a long-awaited Siri upgrade boasting enhanced personal context awareness and on-screen object recognition. These features were first teased in 2024 but have faced multiple delays due to technical challenges.

Apple is expected to unveil a new Siri architecture powered by its Apple Foundation Models framework, introduced in 2025. This framework enables local data processing without needing a constant internet connection. The company may also share details on its collaboration with Google integrating Gemini AI models, first revealed earlier this year, showcasing how third-party AI systems will complement Apple’s native capabilities.

Developers should also watch for fresh AI development tools in Xcode. Earlier in 2026, Apple incorporated agent-based tools like Anthropic’s Claude Agent and OpenAI’s Codex into its IDE. WWDC might deliver deeper AI assistant integration for code generation, automated testing, and documentation creation-streamlining the coding workflow for developers.

The conference will be streamed live on the Apple Developer app, Apple’s official website, and the Apple Developer YouTube channel. For viewers in China, the broadcast will be available via the Bilibili platform.

WWDC 2026 is Apple’s first major developer event since a series of AI feature delays, including postponing the full Siri upgrade to fall 2026. The company’s challenge will be proving it can deliver functional, competitive AI features that win over both developers and users, ensuring Apple stays relevant in the escalating generative AI race dominated by rivals like Google and Microsoft.
