PPP Cameras has launched the N168, a new custom watch model that puts a Nikon-inspired spin on the classic Casio A168WE. This isn’t an official Casio release, but rather a third-party redesign that focuses entirely on aesthetics.
Following their earlier Leica-inspired M-Edition, PPP Cameras has now turned to Nikon’s signature style. The standout feature is a yellow-tinted display, echoing Nikon’s iconic brand color. The watch strap is crafted from black textile with yellow stitching, reminiscent of camera straps.
Functionally, the watch remains unchanged, using the standard Casio A168 module. It offers the usual features, like a stopwatch, alarm, and backlight. The redesign prioritizes visual appeal rather than any technical upgrades.

The case remains nearly identical to the original Casio, including the ”Illuminator” label on the face, highlighting that the base device is unchanged.
The N168 comes in three finishes: Chrome, Black, and Titanium. Differences are mostly cosmetic, focusing on the case’s surface treatment. The pricing details are:
- Chrome: £150 (around $200)
- Titanium: £150 (around $200)
- Black: £170 (roughly $226)
PPP Cameras’ approach sits squarely in the niche of customized Casio heritage watches, a category that has gained traction globally among enthusiasts who value retro digital watches with fresh design twists. Unlike Apple, Samsung, or Garmin, which chase new tech and features, these mods prioritize style and brand nostalgia, catering to fans of camera culture. The yellow-tinted display and strap detail pay homage to Nikon’s legacy, offering a subtle but distinctive wearable tribute.
As the retro digital watch trend grows, expect more collaborations or inspired designs borrowing from iconic brands outside the mainstream watch world. PPP Cameras’ Nikon-themed N168 shows how a simple color and material swap can tap into niche fanbases without reinventing the wheel. Who’s next-Sony, Fujifilm, or Canon?
