Casio has unveiled a rare premium pocket calculator called the S100X-JC1-U, nicknamed ”The Special One.” Unlike the frequent limited-edition runs of watches, Casio’s exclusive calculators are almost unheard of. Only 650 units will be made globally, making it a true collector’s item.
The device sports a brushed aluminum body finished by hand with traditional Japanese lacquer techniques, resulting in a deep glossy black surface. Red accents highlight the keys and front panel, while gold lettering adds a luxurious touch. Its display features dark blue digits on a nearly white background to maximize contrast. Casio says the FSTN LCD with dual-layer coating reduces glare and boosts readability far beyond typical calculator screens.

Its keys use a scissor-switch mechanism similar to laptop keyboards, delivering crisp feedback and consistent pressure regardless of where you press. The calculator supports up to three simultaneous key presses, enabling faster input without overloading the device.
Weighing 275 grams, ”The Special One” runs on a CR2025 battery that Casio claims can last as long as seven years with about one hour of daily use.
Priced at 99,000 yen (around $630) in Japan, the S100X-JC1-U has no official international release yet, though it may be available via import services.
While calculators aren’t usually the kind of product brands turn into luxury collectibles, Casio’s approach here echoes limited-edition watch drops by blending craftsmanship, design, and rarity. For calculator enthusiasts and tech collectors alike, ”The Special One” is a striking departure from conventional everyday tools.
