Chinese automaker iCAUR is gearing up to introduce its flagship hybrid SUV, the V27, to the Russian market in 2026. Combining off-road capability with family-friendly comfort, the V27 follows a successful debut in China and is set for a global rollout with Russia as a key target.

The V27 aims for versatility-offering responsive handling for drivers alongside safety and comfort features for passengers. This approach resonates with Russian consumers, especially since the model’s hybrid system has proven reliable in harsh tests down to -40 °C, addressing a critical need for vehicles that can withstand extreme cold.

Technical features of the iCAUR V27 hybrid SUV

The heart of the V27 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with a generator. Its thermal efficiency hits an impressive 45.79%, producing 3.71 kWh of electricity per liter of fuel. This powers two electric motors delivering a combined 455 horsepower. Unlike pure electric vehicles, whose range and performance often suffer in freezing conditions due to battery cooling, the V27 promises steady power even in severe cold.

Safety is another priority: over 76% of the chassis is made from high-strength steel, and seven airbags come standard, meeting international safety regulations.

Inside, the V27 offers a spacious cabin with a ceiling height of 1350 mm. Fold down the rear seats to create a two-person sleeping area. The cargo space exceeds 1800 liters, making it practical for road trips and family outings.

Adaptation for Russia and rollout plans for the iCAUR V27

To suit Russia’s demanding environment, iCAUR enhanced the suspension and engine thermal management systems of the V27, followed by rigorous cold-climate testing. These modifications equip the SUV to perform reliably on Russia’s icy roads and varied terrain.

The Russian launch is a cornerstone of iCAUR’s global expansion strategy, which also targets European, Southeast Asian, and Middle Eastern markets. By 2026, the company plans to establish dealerships and service networks in Russia and tailor trim levels to local preferences. Pricing and exact launch dates will be announced closer to release.

While rivals like Toyota and Hyundai have dominated the hybrid SUV segment in Russia, iCAUR’s cold-resistant hybrid powertrain and family-focused design could carve out a niche. The next few years will reveal if its blend of efficiency, safety, and adaptability can compete with established players in this rapidly evolving segment.
