Sendy Audio has released its Kylin desktop headphone DAC and amplifier, first showcased at CanJam NYC 2025. The unit features a solid aluminum chassis that protects internal components while efficiently dissipating heat generated by its Class A amplifier stage. The amplifier automatically adjusts output impedance based on the connected headphones and includes a gain switch to customize output levels. Physical controls include an ALPS volume potentiometer, an input selector knob, and headphone outputs supporting balanced 4-pin XLR, balanced 4.4mm, and unbalanced 6.35mm connections. Two analog VU-style meters are positioned between the jacks and controls, adding a retro aesthetic.
The Kylin offers multiple input options, including three pairs of analog RCA inputs, USB via an XMOS USB audio controller, as well as optical and coaxial digital inputs. At its core is the ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chip, which supports high-resolution audio formats up to native DSD512. The preamplifier section uses a CS 3.5 circuit from Xindak, featuring two Burr-Brown OPA604 op-amps operating in mono mode. Its Class A headphone amplifier stage employs Hitachi transistors along with premium WIMA and Nichicon capacitors, delivering 200mW of power into 600 ohms and 1 watt into 30 ohms.
The Kylin also functions as a preamplifier with an RCA pair designed for this purpose, enhancing its versatility beyond headphone use. The included accessories consist of RCA cables and several USB cables-USB A to USB B, USB A to USB C, and USB A to Lightning-ensuring compatibility with a wide range of sources without requiring additional purchases. Priced at $1,500 in the US, the Sendy Audio Kylin targets audiophiles seeking a high-fidelity desktop setup with flexible connectivity and premium components.
