Xiaomi has revealed the design and key features of its upcoming Watch S5 smartwatch, a rugged sports model that focuses on durability, premium materials, and extended battery life. The official launch is slated for later this month.

The Watch S5 sports a refreshed design with an integrated bezel and a case crafted from forged 316L stainless steel, a material known for its high resistance to corrosion and wear. This upgrade not only boosts durability for everyday use but also allows Xiaomi to slim down the case compared to previous models, while maintaining a strong, premium feel.

Unlike its modular-design predecessors, the Watch S5 features a non-removable bezel, reducing screen borders and expanding usable display area. This integrated bezel design also contributes to a thinner profile, making the watch more comfortable for all-day wear-including pairing well with business attire.

Xiaomi plans several bezel and finish options. The standouts include a Midnight Blue ceramic bezel with glossy white hour markers and 24 faceted edges for a refined look, and a Forged Carbon version created through multi-layer forging technology, presenting a distinctive texture and sporty vibe.

There will also be three stainless steel bezel variants. The black and silver models embrace minimalist design paired with fluororubber straps ideal for sports and daily wear. Meanwhile, the silver version that supports eSIM comes with a gray leather strap, geared toward a more classic style.

The crown button is engraved with concentric circles, adding a tactile element to the design. Xiaomi is also offering multiple watch faces inspired by classic analog timepieces, including options featuring Roman numerals and moon phase indicators.

Xiaomi says the Watch S5’s sensors have been completely overhauled for more accurate health tracking. The watch also serves as a wrist-worn smart hub, allowing control over compatible smart home gadgets and connected cars.

Battery life stands out as a major advantage here – Xiaomi claims the Watch S5 can run up to 21 days on a single charge, far exceeding many rivals that often max out around one week.

Pricing in China is expected to resemble the previous Watch S4, with these options:

  • Bluetooth version: roughly 999 yuan (~$140)
  • eSIM model: about 1199 yuan (~$170)

A global release date hasn’t been announced, but following Xiaomi’s recent international Watch 5 launch, the Watch S5 could make its way worldwide within the next few months.

Xiaomi’s new Watch S5 targets users who want a more durable, stylish smartwatch with battery life that surpasses most competitors. Watching how it stacks up against mainstream players like the Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch in real-world tests will be interesting-especially considering Xiaomi’s aggressive pricing and hardware upgrades. Keep an eye on its global rollout and expanding software features beyond health tracking and smart home control.
