TCL has launched the 27C2A Pro, a 27-inch gaming monitor featuring Mini LED backlighting and advanced specs that compete with pricier models, all at a relatively affordable price point of 3,367 yuan (around $488).

The display boasts 2,304 independent local dimming zones, promising superior contrast and minimal halo effects around bright objects. Gamers get a versatile dual-mode setup: a 4K resolution running at 160Hz for high-fidelity visuals, and a Full HD mode boosting refresh rates up to 320Hz for fast-paced competitive play. The monitor also claims a 1ms gray-to-gray response time.

For HDR enthusiasts, TCL rates the peak brightness at an impressive 2,000 nits. While sustained full-screen brightness figures aren’t detailed, the monitor carries an HDR1400 certification, suggesting it maintains at least 900 nits under sustained loads.

The 27C2A Pro covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut with a color accuracy rating of ΔE less than 2, making it suitable not only for gaming but also for color-critical tasks like graphic design and content creation.

Connectivity options include:

  • Two HDMI 2.1 ports
  • One DisplayPort 1.4
  • Two USB-A ports
  • One USB-C port with 90W power delivery
  • 3.5mm audio jack

The stand offers height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and a 90-degree pivot for portrait mode, catering well to multi-monitor setups and ergonomic customization.

On the software side, TCL incorporates AI-driven gaming features, such as crosshair color inversion and automatic brightness boosting in dark scenes to enhance visibility.

Currently available in China, the 27C2A Pro’s pricing and features rival offerings from high-end competitors like ASUS, Acer, and Samsung-but at a lower price-potentially disrupting the gaming monitor segment. Given TCL’s history of bringing devices to international markets, a global launch could be on the horizon.
