Xiaomi is gearing up to expand its flagship series in India with the imminent launch of the Xiaomi 17T. The device is rumored to arrive within two to three months, potentially priced around ₹55,000. This places it in the competitive mid-to-high-range segment, anticipating launch offers that Xiaomi typically provides during initial sales.

Leaks suggest Xiaomi will introduce the 17T alongside a higher-end Xiaomi 17T Pro model, though only the standard 17T might be destined for the Indian market. Both models are said to boast Leica-tuned cameras, underpinning Xiaomi’s focus on photography. The camera setup likely includes a triple sensor array with a 50MP primary lens, a 12MP secondary sensor, and another 50MP telephoto camera. The Pro version is expected to step up with a periscope telephoto lens, enhancing zoom capabilities. Selfies should be handled by a 32MP front-facing camera on both models.

Xiaomi 17T specs leak

Powering the Xiaomi 17T will be the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, complementing a large 6,500mAh battery which supports 67W fast charging-a solid specification for sustained daily use. Meanwhile, the 17T Pro reportedly relies on the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9500, hinting at a performance upgrade.

Interestingly, the 17T Pro might be closely related to the upcoming Redmi K90 Ultra, expected to debut in China soon. That phone is rumored to feature:

  • 6.8-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate
  • 8,500mAh battery with 100W charging
  • In-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor
  • Built-in cooling fan, signaling gaming ambitions
  • Premium features like a metal frame and water resistance

These specs distinguish the Pro from the base 17T model.

The Xiaomi 17T’s combination of mid-range MediaTek processing, large battery capacity, fast charging, and Leica optics makes it a compelling option for those looking for high value without flagship price tags. As Xiaomi pushes forward with this lineup, its ability to compete with rivals like Samsung and OnePlus on camera quality and battery life could decide how well it resonates with Indian consumers this year.
