Indian brand Lava International has unveiled the Lava Bold 2 5G, a refreshed take on its existing Bold lineup. Rather than an all-new handset, the Bold 2 5G is essentially a rebranded version of last August’s Lava Blaze AMOLED 2, redesigned mainly to hit a lower price point.
The standout difference is the price tag. Lava Bold 2 5G will retail for 12,999 Indian rupees-roughly $140-making it 1,000 rupees cheaper than the Blaze AMOLED 2 model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. This price adjustment aims to capture more budget-conscious buyers amid fierce competition in India’s entry-level 5G smartphone segment.
Sales open on Amazon India starting March 19, with both Feather White and Midnight Black color options carried over from the Blaze. The phone ships with Android 15 out of the box, keeping it up to date with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS-something often skipped in this price range.

Specs-wise, the Bold 2 5G mirrors the Blaze AMOLED 2 completely. It sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chipset, a competent mid-tier 5G processor commonly found in affordable smartphones.
The photography setup includes a 50MP main camera featuring Sony’s IMX752 sensor, offering decent imaging performance for the price. Battery capacity stands at 5,000mAh with 33W fast-charging support, promising a solid day of use and quick top-ups.
In a fiercely competitive budget smartphone segment dominated by brands like Xiaomi, Realme, and Samsung, Lava’s Bold 2 5G seeks to carve out space through aggressive pricing and up-to-date software. The rebranding strategy hints at the company’s aim to keep product cycles agile without investing heavily in new designs.
Looking ahead, whether Lava can maintain momentum with the Bold series will depend on how it balances cost, performance, and software support in a market where consumers increasingly expect Android upgrades and solid displays. The Bold 2 5G sets the bar for sub-$150 5G devices in India, but price wars and feature creep show no signs of slowing down.
