Lamborghini is considering reviving the off-road supercar concept first introduced with the Huracan Sterrato. The brand’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, suggested that a similar model could be developed on the platform of the recently unveiled Lamborghini Temerario supercar. This move follows the positive market response to the Sterrato, which blended supercar performance with rally-inspired off-road capabilities.
The Huracan Sterrato, launched in 2023, was notable for its raised ride height, rugged tires, and protective body cladding-features unusual for a supercar. It carved out a unique niche similar to Porsche’s 911 Dakar, appealing to buyers who wanted a supercar that could handle more challenging terrain. Despite the unconventional approach, Sterrato’s success prompted Lamborghini to keep the idea alive for future developments.
Winkelmann emphasized that currently the firm’s focus remains on conventional supercar variants such as coupes, convertibles, and high-performance derivatives. Nevertheless, the positive reception of the Sterrato means the company may revisit the off-road supercar concept later on. The recent Temerario, Lamborghini’s midsize V8-powered supercar introduced less than two years ago, stands as a likely foundation for such a vehicle.
Lamborghini Temerario’s hybrid powertrain and performance specs
The Temerario is set to launch initially as a Spyder model with a hybrid powertrain that pairs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with electric assistance, producing a combined output of 907 horsepower. Lamborghini also plans to unveil a lighter, more extreme variant akin to the Huracan Performante or STO, targeting around 950 horsepower. An off-road Temerario variant would add a novel chapter to Lamborghini’s lineup, potentially merging brutal performance with rugged utility.
Rise of off-road supercars among performance brands
Lamborghini’s willingness to explore off-road supercars fits into a broader trend among niche manufacturers stretching the performance envelope into unconventional terrain categories. While most supercars focus purely on track and road performance, models like the Sterrato and Porsche 911 Dakar tap growing customer interest in versatile, adventurous driving experiences without sacrificing speed or style.

Potential for a Temerario-based off-road supercar production
Whether a Temerario-based off-road supercar will reach production depends on market demand and internal priorities, but the CEO’s remarks make clear the Sterrato experiment was far from a one-off stunt. As Lamborghini pushes the Temerario into new derivatives, an off-road variant would serve enthusiasts eager for something that blurs the lines between a track beast and off-piste explorer.
