Xiaomi has unveiled the Mijia Front-Opening Suitcase, designed with travelers’ convenience in mind by offering a unique front-access compartment that lets users reach essentials without unlocking the entire bag. Available in 18-inch and 20-inch sizes, the suitcase balances thoughtful organization and lightweight durability at affordable prices of 399 yuan ($58) and 499 yuan ($72), respectively.
The suitcase’s standout feature is its dual-section front compartment that simplifies airport security checks and provides quick access to necessities. One side includes a laptop pocket compatible with devices up to 16 inches, while the other hosts a storage area for chargers, power banks, and cables. Meanwhile, the main storage space offers a deep 1:9 design to accommodate bulky items like winter clothes and irregular shapes, supported by a wet storage layer to isolate damp items.

Built with Covestro PC composite material, the suitcase is both durable and lightweight, weighing just 3.4 kg for the 18-inch and 3.7 kg for the 20-inch model. Security is enhanced with a TSA-approved embedded lock-single zipper on the smaller variant and dual zipper on the larger. Xiaomi outfitted the suitcase with silent universal wheels and telescopic handles adjustable at three and four levels depending on the size.

Another clever touch is the antibacterial interior lining, claimed to reduce bacterial growth by up to 99% according to lab tests, making it a hygienic travel solution. The suitcase comes in two understated color options: Deep Gray Silver and Distant Mountain Green. With capacities of 37.5L and 39L, this line is aimed at business and frequent travelers who prize efficient packing and quick access to gadgets and documents.
Xiaomi’s luggage innovation follows their recent releases, including the Mijia Vertical Study Lamp 2 with AI lighting and a budget-friendly 10kg front-load washing machine running on HyperOS, signaling the brand’s expansion into smart home and lifestyle accessories.
