iReader has unveiled its latest high-end E Ink reader, the Neo 3 Ultra, targeting avid readers with a sharper 6-inch display and significant performance upgrades. Priced at 1,499 yuan (around $220), this device promises better responsiveness, improved E Ink display technology, and longer battery endurance.

The Neo 3 Ultra features a 4:3 aspect ratio screen with a 1072 x 1448 resolution, yielding 300 pixels per inch for crisp text quality. It includes an advanced nano-level anti-glare etched surface, enabling comfortable reading even in bright environments by reducing reflections.

Under the hood, the device is powered by an octa-core processor paired with a dedicated GPU, doubling the speed compared to previous iReader models. Equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, it leverages a GPU Turbo 5.0 engine to accelerate page turns and deliver fluid animations. The Neo 3 Ultra also debuts iDisplay Ultra Refresh technology, reducing ghosting and flicker typical of E Ink screens while keeping energy use low, complemented by iClean 2.0 AI that selectively refreshes the display to sharpen visual clarity.

The device’s ComfortLight Pro+ system provides 30 levels of adjustable brightness and color temperature, ensuring consistent illumination and minimizing eye fatigue through DC dimming. A 2,000mAh battery supports up to 53 hours of active reading or 18 days on standby per charge, offering impressive endurance for long reading sessions.

Connectivity comes via dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, with a USB-C port handling charging and data transfers. Running on SmartOS 3.4, the Neo 3 Ultra supports multitasking, gesture controls, and customization of app layouts, compatible with EPUB, PDF, MP3, and other formats. It weighs 150 grams and is just 7.5mm thick, keeping the design slim and portable.

Pricing for the iReader Neo 3 Ultra is as follows:

  • Standard model: 1,499 yuan (around $220)

While iReader advances its E Ink offerings, other brands like AOC have also dabbled in the space, with last year’s 10W1D tablet focusing on a larger 10-inch E Ink display combined with stylus support and productivity features. The Neo 3 Ultra should appeal to readers who want a compact, speedy, and visually comfortable device with long-lasting battery life at a competitive price.
