Porsche is expanding its electric Cayenne lineup with the introduction of the Cayenne S, positioned between the entry-level model and the flagship Turbo. This new variant packs a hefty 536 horsepower, which jumps to 657 hp with launch control activated, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Priced at $128,650 including destination fees, it sits comfortably in the middle of the electric Cayenne range, offering a blend of performance and price that Porsche hopes will attract buyers seeking more options beyond the base and Turbo models.
The Cayenne S rides on the same 113-kWh battery as its siblings and supports ultra-fast 400-kW DC charging, capable of replenishing 10 to 80 percent of its capacity in under 16 minutes-if you can find a charger that powerful. Distinct design tweaks set it apart visually, including Volcano Grey Metallic accents on the front and rear fascias. The US market gets a choice of 13 colors, along with the new Interior Style Package featuring a two-tone black-and-green cabin to complement the Mystic Green exterior paint.
Porsche maintains the all-wheel-drive layout with dual electric motors. The Cayenne S also benefits from Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus for improved cornering, an active suspension setup, ceramic-composite brakes, and the Sport Chrono Package. This package unlocks a push-to-pass button, granting an extra 120 horsepower for 10 seconds for bursts of acceleration. There’s even track mode, though the notion of navigating a large, heavy electric SUV on a race circuit seems questionable.
This new Cayenne S undercuts the Turbo by $36,700 while costing $17,300 more than the base electric model, positioning itself as a strong performance-value proposition in Porsche’s electric SUV lineup. Deliveries in the United States will begin toward the end of summer.
Electric Porsche Cayenne S performance and charging specs
Adding the Cayenne S mirrors Porsche’s strategy with its gas-powered Cayenne range and its electric Macan lineup, expanding consumer choice within the model family. Analysts point out that while luxury EV sales are growing, they remain a fraction of total sales, making Porsche’s layered approach a smart way to capture varying buyer needs and budgets. A coupe-styled Cayenne variant is expected in the future, following the pattern Porsche established with the traditional combustion versions.
Cheaper electric Porsche options under $100,000 remain mostly limited to the smaller Macan EV, and there’s little expectation for a more affordable single-motor Cayenne anytime soon. The S model’s mix of speed, technology, and manageable pricing looks set to widen the appeal of Porsche’s heavier electric SUVs as the brand ramps up its electrification efforts.
