Gaming tech enthusiasts, hold onto your seats-TCL just dropped a wild new monitor that’s bound to shake up the esports scene globally. The company’s latest release, the TCL 27P2A Ultra, is built for pro gamers who demand the absolute fastest refresh rates and minimal input lag. Revealed alongside the TCL 27C3A Pro, the 27P2A Ultra stole the spotlight with an eye-popping refresh rate that hits up to 1040Hz.
If TCL’s specs hold up, this will be the first Mini LED gaming monitor to break the 1000Hz refresh rate barrier-a milestone aimed squarely at competitive players. The blazing-fast refresh rate promises ultra-smooth motion and razor-sharp responsiveness, critical in high-stakes esports where every millisecond counts.

That said, the monitor doesn’t hit its max 1040Hz refresh rate at its native 2K resolution. TCL confirmed the screen runs at 550Hz when used at 2K (2560×1440). The exact resolution needed to unlock the full 1040Hz hasn’t been disclosed, but experts speculate it’s probably 720p. Dropping below 720p would make the monitor less appealing in today’s market, so TCL seems to have found a practical sweet spot. This insane refresh rate is made possible by TCL’s high-speed CSOT HFS Shoot panel technology.
For context, this isn’t the first time a 1000Hz+ refresh rate has been teased. Back in December, Samsung unveiled the Odyssey G6 (G60H) sporting a 27-inch QHD IPS panel with an already impressive 600Hz. However, Samsung’s offering uses an IPS panel, whereas TCL’s 27P2A Ultra leverages Mini LED tech, which typically provides better brightness and contrast-a big plus in competitive gaming visuals.
For the international tech community, this launch highlights an ongoing arms race in esports hardware where screen responsiveness can make or break gameplay. While most gamers are used to 60Hz, 144Hz, or even 240Hz monitors, breaking past 1000Hz is a staggering leap that will push the limits of current gaming rigs, graphics cards, and competitive play styles. It’s also a signal that display tech is rapidly evolving, blending miniaturized lighting solutions and ultra-fast panels to meet gamer demands. While such high refresh rates might not be essential for casual gamers, for esports pros chasing every microsecond of advantage, TCL’s 27P2A Ultra could set a new standard – if the price and availability align.
