Samsung has rolled out its July 2026 security update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets, patching 57 vulnerabilities-five of them critical. The first compatible devices should start receiving the update this week or next.

The update includes 41 fixes from Google’s monthly Android security bulletin and 16 issues identified by Samsung under its SVE (Samsung Vulnerability and Exposure) program. Among these, 42 are rated high severity, while seven are moderate. The patches primarily target devices running Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16.

Samsung typically deploys these updates in stages, starting with flagship models, then foldables, followed by mid-range devices. This time, the patch might also be included in the One UI 9.0 Beta 4 rollout for the Galaxy S26 series.

The update fixes include:

  • 57 total vulnerabilities patched
  • 5 critical bugs fixed
  • 41 fixes from Google’s Android security bulletin
  • 16 Samsung-specific SVE (Samsung Vulnerability and Exposure) fixes
  • 42 high severity issues addressed
  • 7 moderate severity issues addressed
  • Targets devices running Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16

Samsung’s update schedule compared to competitors

Samsung’s aggressive update schedule contrasts with some competitors who have slower or less consistent security patch cycles. This rapid deployment reflects the brand’s commitment to maintaining security across its diverse device lineup and its One UI customization layer, which adds complexity to patch integration.

Challenges ahead for Samsung’s Android security updates

Looking ahead, the industry will watch how quickly Samsung can keep pace with monthly Google patches as Android evolves. With Android 16 still in early stages and One UI updates converging with core Android releases, the pressure is on Samsung to balance innovation with security-especially as threats become more sophisticated.
