Xiaomi’s 17T series landed globally in May, slotting neatly between near-flagship models and high-end flagships. The standard Xiaomi 17T features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chip, and a hefty 6,500mAh battery. The 17T Pro steps up with a larger 6.83-inch 144Hz display, a Dimensity 9500 processor, a 7,000mAh battery, and a Leica camera system with 5x optical zoom. If you’ve already got one of these phones, your first extra spend should be on accessories that genuinely protect and enhance your device, not just flashy add-ons.
Both Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro come with IP68 water and dust resistance, but that won’t stop screen cracks, scratches, or storage issues. Neither phone includes a microSD slot or a 3.5mm headphone jack-a familiar scenario in this segment. Just like Samsung’s Galaxy S series and recent iPhones, expandable storage is off the table, so don’t plan on adding a memory card later.
- TPU or silicone case with raised edges around the screen and cameras
- Case-friendly tempered glass screen protector
- An extra charger matching the phone’s fast-charging capabilities
- Wireless earbuds supporting modern Bluetooth codecs
- Cloud storage plan for photos, videos, and backups
First up: a case. The 17T Pro has an aluminum frame and glass back, while the base 17T uses a plastic frame with a fiberglass-reinforced rear panel. Both look great on a desk or in your hand, but a hard drop on concrete will test their limits. Choose a case that offers a lip raised above the camera module and front screen edge-the cheapest way to avoid an expensive repair bill.
Next, grab a screen protector. Despite the front panel’s Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, dust, pocket debris, and accidental drops still leave their mark. Quality tempered glass won’t change the touch feel much or interfere with the touchscreen’s responsiveness, which is crucial for gaming. Cheap protectors tend to bubble near the edges and quickly irritate.
Charging is where it gets interesting. There’s already a wall adapter in the box, so a second charger is for convenience-your desk, bag, or bedside table. The 17T supports up to 67W wired charging; the 17T Pro pushes that to 100W wired and 50W wireless. For the Pro, investing in a wireless charging dock or desktop station that can also power your laptop, earbuds case, or power bank makes sense.
This leads to wireless earbuds, which aren’t just a luxury but a practical must-have since neither phone has a headphone jack-standard for this upper midrange class. Make sure they support the latest Bluetooth codecs for the best audio quality and battery life.
Finally, cloud storage shouldn’t be overlooked. The 256GB models can fill up surprisingly fast, especially when shooting video. A subscription to Google Photos, Xiaomi Cloud, or another service provides automatic backup and frees local storage. According to Statista, the global usage of cloud storage is growing rapidly because device memory is increasingly insufficient.
If you need to prioritize three buys on day one, start with a case, screen protector, and cloud storage. After that, your needs will vary. Wireless charging is a natural fit for 17T Pro owners, while frequent travelers and media consumers will appreciate true wireless earbuds within the first week.
