Vivo is expanding its X300 lineup even as the X500 series gears up for a September debut. New leaks suggest the company is prepping the Vivo X300e, which is expected to launch first in China before possibly hitting global markets. Buyers face a choice between the familiar Vivo X300 FE and a new model boasting nearly identical specs but housed in a different chassis.
Insiders indicate the X300e will sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, the same processor powering the recently announced X300 FE. This means both devices will compete in the same performance bracket. The key difference won’t be in raw specs but in how Vivo distributes features across two distinct phones. The X300e might even debut internationally alongside Vivo’s upcoming foldable, the X Fold 6.
Vivo X300e display compared to Vivo X300 FE
The headline distinction is in the display. The rumored X300e will feature a flat 6.59-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2750 × 1260 pixels. Refresh rate details remain under wraps. In comparison, the X300 FE has a smaller 6.31-inch flat AMOLED screen with a 2640 × 1216 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 5000 nits, a 4320Hz PWM dimming frequency, and DC dimming support.
Who should consider the Vivo X300e or X300 FE
That size difference boils down to personal preference. The X300 FE caters to users who want a compact flagship they can comfortably operate one-handed. Meanwhile, the larger X300e will appeal to gamers, video watchers, and anyone who finds smaller screens restrictive after a while.
Vivo’s strategy with compact and mid-sized flagship smartphones
Vivo’s strategy makes sense in context. Truly compact premium smartphones remain rare even among flagship-tier rivals. Samsung tends to reserve smaller screens for its base Galaxy S models, Xiaomi focuses on mid-sized flagships, and many Chinese brands push larger phones around 6.7 inches.
If the X300e arrives in the coming weeks, it’s unlikely to replace the X300 FE. Instead, it will serve as another option alongside Vivo’s expanding lineup ahead of the X500 series rollout.
