OnePlus is gearing up to launch new flagship-level phones in China, and the upcoming Ace 7 could push endurance limits with a staggering 9000mAh battery, a 185Hz refresh rate display, and a Snapdragon 8-series chip. This comes from a trusted leak by Digital Chat Station, who has previously shared reliable details about the Ace lineup. If accurate, OnePlus will significantly raise the bar for battery life in high-performance Android smartphones.

The insider reveals that engineering samples of the Ace 7 are currently undergoing tests in two variants: one powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (model SM8850) and another with a modified version called SM8850Q. Both models feature a flat 6.78-inch 1.5K display, around a 9000mAh battery, ultra-fast charging rated at 100 or 120 watts, active cooling with a fan, and a minimalist design approach. The 185Hz refresh rate is particularly eye-catching-far exceeding the 120Hz ceiling standard among flagships from Samsung, Xiaomi, and Apple, and even trumping many gaming phones, which typically max out at 144Hz.

OnePlus’ move toward such a high refresh rate and massive battery reflects broader trends in China. Over the past year, manufacturers have been adopting silicon-carbon batteries, enabling flagship and upper midrange devices to reach 6500-8000mAh without becoming bulky. If OnePlus actually hits 9000mAh on the Ace 7, it won’t just challenge traditional flagships but also rival gaming phones like RedMagic and Asus ROG Phone, which have long used large batteries and active cooling as key selling points.

The leak also mentions a possible Ace 7 Pro variant featuring a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x zoom, based on Samsung’s JN5 sensor. This camera module is reportedly still under consideration, but its inclusion would mark a shift for the Ace lineup, which has previously prioritized raw performance over camera capabilities.

OnePlus Ace 7 smartphone specs leak

The lineup structure seems to be evolving as well. Previously, leaks suggested the Ace family included three models-Ace 6, Ace 6T, and Ace 6 Ultra-with no Pro version. Now OnePlus appears to be preparing an Ace 7 Pro along with another phone powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, likely to be named Ace 7T. The global version of the Ace 7T is expected to launch as the OnePlus 16R. This fits OnePlus’ usual strategy of adapting China-only Ace models for international markets under different names.

This aggressive push in battery size and display tech stands out in the current Android landscape, where even flagship phones from the biggest brands settle around 4500-5000mAh batteries and 120Hz to 144Hz refresh rates. OnePlus branching into 9000mAh batteries and ultra-high refresh displays points to an escalating race to satisfy power users and gamers demanding extreme endurance and smoothness.

What remains to be seen is how OnePlus balances this enormous battery and 185Hz screen with factors like device thickness, heat dissipation, and price. If the Ace 7 delivers on these specs while staying competitive on design and cost, it could force rivals to rethink their approach to battery life and display performance in flagship phones. Expect more teasers and official announcements in the coming months, as OnePlus fine-tunes its strategy for both the domestic Chinese market and the global scene.
