Apple’s first foldable iPhone is edging closer to reality, and the latest look comes from a mockup shared by reliable Apple watcher Sonny Dickson. The foldable iPhone mockup, widely rumored to launch as the iPhone Ultra, appears in white only, with a compact body, a dual rear camera, and two front cameras – one for the outer display and one for the inner panel.

The most interesting detail may be what’s missing. If these reports hold up, Apple could skip Face ID on the foldable entirely and move back to Touch ID, this time tucked into the power button. That would be a very Apple move: preserve premium branding, then quietly compromise with physics.

What the iPhone Ultra mockup shows

The photos suggest Apple is aiming for a device that folds without looking like a science project. There’s no sign of multiple color options yet, and the hardware footprint looks restrained rather than flashy. That fits a category where Samsung, Huawei, and others have spent years proving that folding phones can sell – but only if they feel less like prototypes and more like expensive everyday phones.

  • White color only, at least for now
  • Dual rear camera system
  • Two selfie cameras, inside and outside
  • Possible Touch ID in the power button
  • Face ID may be absent because of thickness constraints

Apple’s foldable price and launch timing

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said the foldable iPhone could cost about $2,000, which puts it squarely in ultra-premium territory even by Apple standards. The price tag is reportedly tied to a new hinge made from ”liquid metal” and a flexible display designed to keep the crease as subtle as possible – the sort of engineering trick that sounds boring until you have to pay for it.

The current expectation is an announcement in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. If Apple sticks to that script, the company will be entering a foldable segment that’s no longer novel, but still far from settled. The real question is whether Apple is late to the party – or just waiting to charge more for the good seats.
