ASUS has given its ROG gaming mouse line a very shiny birthday present. The ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 arrives as a limited 20th-anniversary model for Republic of Gamers, pairing the same esports-focused hardware as the standard Harpe II Extreme with a semi-transparent black shell, 24K gold-plated internals, and just enough visual excess to make collectors weak at the knees.
Competitive players get the fast sensor, high polling rate, and lightweight build they actually use; everyone else gets a mouse that looks like it belongs in a display case. ASUS is betting that premium accessories can still command attention in a market where a lot of gaming gear looks like it was designed by a committee with a neon budget.
24K gold accents and a collector finish
The anniversary edition keeps the 82g weight of the original but swaps in a 24K gold-plated internal metal frame, gold side buttons, a gold scroll wheel, and gold-accented mouse feet. ASUS also added a special ”ROG 06 ←→ ∞” engraving on the left button, a small flourish that makes the whole thing feel more commemorative than merely expensive.
It is not just decoration for decoration’s sake, either. ASUS says the mouse uses Corning Gorilla Glass mouse feet for smoother glide and better durability, which is the sort of detail that matters more than gold if you actually spend hours flicking across a desk at 2 a.m.
ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 specs
- Sensor: ASUS AimPoint Pro 65K optical sensor
- DPI: up to 65,000
- Tracking speed: 800 IPS
- Acceleration: 70G
- Polling rate: up to 8,000Hz
- Wireless latency: as low as 0.2ms
- Switches: ROG 100M optical switches rated for up to 100 million clicks
- Weight: 82g
That spec sheet reads like ASUS is still fighting the same arms race that has defined premium esports mice for years: lower latency, higher polling, and lighter shells, all wrapped in a shape players will tolerate for long sessions. The 8,000Hz wireless mode and 0.2ms figure are the headline-grabbers, but the real selling point is that ASUS has not sacrificed performance to make this version feel like a trophy.
ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 price and release date
The ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 costs $259.99. Sales start on June 2, 2026, through Best Buy and Newegg, while Amazon and Micro Center will begin carrying it from July 19, 2026. ASUS says it will stay on sale only through the end of 2026, so this is very much a ”buy it while it exists” product rather than an evergreen refresh.
That limited run makes sense for a 20th-anniversary release, but it also positions the mouse as more of a status object than a mainstream upgrade. Logitech, Razer, and SteelSeries all sell high-end wireless gaming mice around this tier, yet few of them are leaning into collector styling this hard. ASUS is basically asking a simple question: if you are already spending flagship money, why not make the thing gold?
For now, the answer seems to be that some buyers absolutely will. The more interesting question is whether this kind of celebratory hardware stays niche, or whether other gaming brands start turning anniversaries into a full-time excuse for luxury editions.
