Xiaomi has taken the Watch S5 to Europe, and the pitch is familiar but effective: a stainless-steel smartwatch with GPS, health tracking, and battery life measured in weeks rather than hours. The starting price is 180 euros, which puts it squarely in the midrange and makes the more expensive colors look less like a spec bump and more like a style tax.
The Xiaomi Watch S5 arrives alongside Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro phones and the Smart Band 10 Pro, so this is clearly part of a broader global push rather than a one-off launch. That matters because Xiaomi keeps trying to cover the same customer from wristband to watch to phone, while rivals such as Samsung and Huawei continue to lean on tighter ecosystem integration and Apple keeps the premium smartwatch crowd locked down with its usual confidence.
Xiaomi Watch S5 display, battery and build
The headline hardware is straightforward. Xiaomi says the Watch S5 uses a 1.48-inch AMOLED display with peak brightness of 2500 nits, a stainless-steel body, and 5ATM water resistance. At 10.99 mm thick, it is slim enough to avoid looking like a small brick strapped to your wrist, which is a better design achievement than it sounds.
Battery life is the obvious attention grabber. Xiaomi rates the 815 mAh battery for up to 21 days on a charge, and that claim alone gives the Watch S5 a clear selling point against many full-featured watches that beg for a charger every night. If real-world use gets anywhere near that figure, it will be one of the model’s strongest reasons to exist.
GPS, health tracking and sensors
For outdoor tracking, Xiaomi is using an updated dual-band GNSS system with support for five satellite systems, plus a barometer. Health features cover heart rate, SpO2, sleep, and stress monitoring, which is now table stakes for any smartwatch that wants to be taken seriously. The missing piece, as always, is whether the software experience feels polished enough to match the hardware checklist.
- 1.48-inch AMOLED display
- Peak brightness: 2500 nits
- Battery: 815 mAh
- Battery life: up to 21 days
- Water resistance: 5ATM
- Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC
Xiaomi Watch S5 price and color options in Europe
Xiaomi is offering the Watch S5 in four versions:
- Black: 180 euros
- Silver: 180 euros
- Blue: 200 euros
- Green: 200 euros
The real question is whether European buyers will see this as a value pick or just another capable smartwatch in an overcrowded shelf. If Xiaomi can make its battery claim hold up in daily use, the Watch S5 has a shot; if not, it will be remembered as another well-specced watch that did everything except stand out.
