Vivo is lining up the Vivo S60 series for launch in China on 29 May, with the S60 and S60 Vitality Edition both tipped to bring a 7200 mAh battery and 90W fast charging. The standard S60 looks like the stronger model, while the Vitality Edition trims a few corners to hit a lower price point.
The early spec dump also suggests the regular S60 will get the more capable camera setup and a faster chipset, while the Vitality Edition keeps the same battery and display size but makes a few trade-offs to stay cheaper.
Vivo S60 camera and chipset details
The regular Vivo S60 is said to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which pushes it toward the upper end of the mid-range rather than the full flagship tier. Its rear setup reportedly includes a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with Sony IMX882 and 3x zoom, plus a 50-megapixel front camera for selfies.
That is a pretty ambitious camera stack for a non-flagship phone. Vivo clearly wants the S60 to look like the ”serious” option, especially with extras such as an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, an IR blaster, and IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.
Vivo S60 Vitality Edition cuts back on cameras
The S60 Vitality Edition is expected to be the cheaper sibling, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7500. Its camera system should be simpler, with no telephoto lens, which is usually the first place brands start shaving costs when they want to keep the headline battery and display specs intact.
Both models are said to use a 6.59-inch flat display with 1260p resolution and a metal frame. That keeps the design language consistent, even if the feature list and pricing strategy are clearly headed in different directions.
Vivo S60 series leans on battery and durability
Vivo is not trying to reinvent the smartphone here. It is leaning into the formula that sells well in China: a large battery, quick charging, strong camera numbers, and durability claims that read well in a spec table. The open question is how far Vivo can stretch the price gap between the two models without making the Vitality Edition feel like the compromise it is.
