Xiaomi has opened preorders for a new version of its Mijia Smart Massage Eye Mask, a light sand-colored gadget aimed at people whose eyes have had enough of screens for one day. The pitch is simple: vibration massage, gentle heating, app control, and a preorder price under $30.
The preorder price is 199.75 yuan, or about $29, while the regular price is set at 249 yuan. That puts it squarely in the impulse-buy zone, which is where a lot of Xiaomi accessories live, and it also undercuts the kind of premium wellness wearables that tend to ask a lot more for a lot less.
Mijia Smart Massage Eye Mask features
Inside the mask are four independent vibration motors meant to mimic fingertip pressure, plus a heating system with two temperature levels. Xiaomi says the design does not press on the eyelids and does not leave marks on skin after use, which is the sort of promise that sounds small until you have worn the wrong kind of eye mask.
- 4 independent vibration motors
- 2 heating levels
- 6 modes in the Mijia app
- Session length from 2 to 30 minutes
- Noise level up to 40 dB
- Removable washable fabric cover
App control and quiet operation
The Mijia app lets users pick from six modes, including Heat Compress, Nap, and Refresh, and set sessions anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes. Xiaomi says the mask stays at or below 40 dB, which is quiet enough to make sense for bedtime use rather than something you’d strap on during a meeting and pretend is productivity.
The removable fabric cover is washable, which is one of those mundane details that ends up mattering more than flashy marketing copy. In a category that usually swings between cheap throwaway gadgets and expensive wellness gear, Xiaomi is doing what Xiaomi does best: packing a familiar idea with enough features to make it feel newer than it is.
A budget smart eye mask for after-work use
For people who spend all day staring at a monitor or phone, the Mijia Smart Massage Eye Mask is clearly aimed at the after-work unwind crowd. The real question is not whether heat and vibration can feel relaxing – they can – but whether buyers will see enough difference versus simpler eye masks once the novelty fades and the battery-free options start looking just as appealing.
