Titan Quest 2 patch 0.5.0 has just taken a big step toward a very different kind of build. THQ Nordic and Grimlore Games have rolled out the update for the early access action RPG, and its headline feature is creature summoning – the first building block for a future ”Summoner” playstyle.
That’s not the only loot-fueled distraction on offer. The update also brings charms that sit in the left hand, more epic weapons, fresh and revised affixes, relics and amulets, plus a death-recovery system that lets players reclaim lost experience through so-called death echoes. Handy, because nothing says ”mythological hero” like dying and then doing your taxes to get your XP back.
Summons are the first step toward Spirit mastery
The summoning system is being introduced gradually. For now, the creatures are tied to existing mastery types, with different classes getting different companions, while the full Spirit mastery is still on the roadmap. Grimlore has already shown how the mechanic works in a recent gameplay video, and that staged rollout suggests the studio is testing player appetite before locking in the final class fantasy.
That approach makes sense for an early access game that still needs room to pivot. Diablo-style competitors have spent years refining minion-heavy builds, and Titan Quest 2 is clearly trying to avoid bolting on a half-baked pet system after the fact.
Charms, epic weapons and death echoes
Patch 0.5.0 also refreshes the reward loop. Charms now take the left-hand slot, epic weapons have been expanded and reworked, and the loot table has been padded out with more relics and amulets. On top of that, players can now place notes on the map, which is one of those small quality-of-life additions that sounds minor until you stop getting lost every five minutes.
- Creature summoning added as the first stage of a future Summoner-style build
- Spirit mastery still planned for a later update
- Charms now equip in the left hand
- More epic weapons, relics and amulets
- Death echoes let players recover lost experience after dying
- Map marking has been added
What Titan Quest 2 still has planned for 2026
Grimlore is not done yet. According to the studio’s 2026 plan, Titan Quest 2 is due to get a new region called ”Wild Lands”, crafting, new quests, enemies, bosses, multiplayer improvements, extra language support, and more before the end of the year.
The timing matters because early access momentum can fade fast if updates arrive too slowly. Titan Quest 2 launched on 1 August 2025 on Steam and Epic Games Store, sold more than 300,000 copies in three days, and has already gathered more than 15,000 ”very positive” reviews on Steam, where its rating stands at 83%. The game has room to grow, but it also has a crowd watching to see whether Grimlore can keep the loot coming without turning the sequel into a museum piece with shinier boots.
The next test for Grimlore Games
The real question now is whether summoning becomes a defining Titan Quest 2 identity or just another experimental layer on top of familiar ARPG systems. If the Spirit mastery lands cleanly and the studio keeps the updates substantial, the game could carve out a stronger niche than many early access rivals manage. If not, players will happily go back to the usual suspects and leave the death echoes behind.
