Casio has put the Edifice Sospensione ECB2300D-2A on sale in the US for $280, giving its motorsport-flavored watch line another excuse to lean hard into race-car cosplay. The Casio Edifice Sospensione ECB2300D-2A first arrived in Europe last year, and the US launch lands alongside a busy Casio calendar that also includes fresh G-Shock and translucent retro-styled releases.

Formula-inspired design, not subtle at all

The ECB2300D-2A pairs a metallic silver case and bracelet with a blue dial and matching accents, but the real gimmick is the shape language. Casio says the arm-like lugs echo double wishbone suspension, while the protrusions are meant to resemble push rods, which is a nice way of saying the watch wants to look like a miniature race machine.

That styling is backed by carbon fiber-reinforced resin and stainless steel, which should keep the watch lighter and sturdier than the average fashion-first chronograph. Casio also says the stopwatch counter uses blue, black, and white accents for a layered look that echoes Formula racing hardware rather than a plain old dial.

Bluetooth, solar power and 300-city world time

The useful bit is less dramatic but probably more important. The watch connects to smartphones over Bluetooth for automatic time correction, world time adjustments across 300 cities, stopwatch data transfer, and time zone management through the Casio Watches app.

  • Price: $280
  • Case and bracelet: metallic silver
  • Materials: carbon fiber-reinforced resin and stainless steel
  • Water resistance: 100 meters
  • Case thickness: 10.9mm

It also uses Tough Solar, so light keeps the battery topped up. Casio says a full charge can deliver up to seven months of operation without light exposure, or up to 18 months in darkness with power-saving mode enabled. That is the kind of spec that quietly embarrasses a lot of everyday smartwatches that need a charger far more often.

A slimmer Edifice, but still very much a statement piece

Casio has shaved the case down to 10.9mm, making it 2mm smaller than the previous ECB-2000 model. Add in 100-meter water resistance, a countdown timer, and a Super Illuminator double LED light, and the ECB2300D-2A looks less like a gimmick and more like a fairly practical sports watch with a loud personality.

The question now is whether US buyers want their watch to look this committed to the racing brief. Casio clearly thinks there is room for more themed metal sports watches, and if the company keeps mixing solar power, Bluetooth, and aggressive styling this neatly, the Edifice line could become the brand’s most useful answer to fashion watches that talk a bigger game than they deliver.
