Redmi’s next flagship teaser trail is getting crowded. Leaks suggest the K90 Ultra is close to launch in China, and it may be joined by another K90-series phone that sits somewhere between the existing K90 and K90 Pro Max.

The bigger story here is not just another Xiaomi sub-brand handset. If the reports are accurate, the K90 Ultra would be Xiaomi’s first fan-cooled smartphone, a move that makes more sense as mobile chips get hotter, faster, and harder to throttle under long gaming sessions.

Redmi K90 Ultra launch leak points to this month

The Redmi K90 Ultra has reportedly cleared certification and is expected to launch this month. A recent Weibo post from Wei Siqi, general manager of Xiaomi China marketing, also appears to have nudged the phone into public view, though Xiaomi has not exactly stamped a release date on it.

What stands out is the cooling setup. A built-in fan would be a rare sight in a mainstream phone, but it fits the performance-first pitch Redmi usually likes to make for China-only flagships. It should help keep speeds steadier during gaming or other sustained workloads, with the fan reportedly adjusting itself based on heat and usage.

Dimensity 9500, 8500mAh battery and 100W charging

The K90 Ultra is tipped to use the Dimensity 9500, built on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process. That puts it in the same high-end camp as other 3nm flagships, where efficiency gains matter almost as much as raw speed because nobody enjoys a premium phone that burns through battery like a space heater.

  • Chipset: Dimensity 9500
  • Battery: 8500mAh
  • Charging: 100W wired fast charging
  • Cooling: internal fan

That battery size is unusually large for a performance phone, and the 100W wired charging should keep refill times from becoming a chore. The combination suggests Redmi is chasing endurance and sustained output rather than just bench-test bragging rights.

A second K90 phone may sit below the Ultra

Another leak, this time from Digital Chat Station, says a separate K90-series model is also in development. The name is still unclear, but it could launch as the Redmi K90 Pro and arrive alongside the Ultra.

That rumored phone is said to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, with a high refresh rate display, an 8000mAh battery and an internal cooling fan of its own. Other reported features include an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, dual speakers and water resistance, which would make it a more traditional flagship package with a few gamer-friendly extras.

Earlier rumors had already hinted that the K90 Pro and K90 Ultra could debut together. If that happens, Redmi would be doing what a lot of Android brands are now trying: splitting one premium family into a battery monster and a performance monster, then letting buyers argue over which badge sounds cooler.

The open question is whether Xiaomi will actually bring this fan-cooled formula to market at scale, or keep it as a China-first experiment. Either way, the K90 series is shaping up to be less about a single phone and more about Redmi testing how far it can push flagship hardware before heat, weight, and battery size start fighting back.
