Marathon has already sold more than 1.2 million copies across all platforms, according to a new report from analytics firm Alinea Analytics. PC sales lead the pack, accounting for about 800,000 copies sold via Steam-nearly 70% of the total audience.
Console sales make up the remainder. PlayStation 5 versions moved around 217,000 units (roughly 19%), while Xbox platforms-including consoles, PC, and cloud gaming-contributed about 133,000 copies, just over 11% of total sales.
Despite Marathon being a PlayStation-backed title, most players prefer the PC edition. Financially, the game has already generated over $55 million in revenue.

Marathon launched strong, with a peak concurrent Steam player count of about 88,000 on release day. Current numbers have dipped slightly to around 50,000 concurrent players, but the game still holds a ”Very Positive” user rating based on over 23,000 reviews.
While the impressive sales and player engagement indicate a solid start, the gradual decline in active players suggests interest is tapering somewhat in the weeks following launch.
