Xiaomi has launched the latest generation of its premium electric sedan, the Xiaomi SU7, offering three versions-Standard, Pro, and Max-priced between 219,900 and 303,900 yuan (around $31,800 to $44,000). The refreshed model brings upgrades in design, performance, safety, and interior tech, positioning it as a strong contender in China’s crowded electric sedan segment.
The SU7’s dimensions remain steady at about 5 meters long, 2 meters wide, and a 3-meter wheelbase. Signature styling cues like the ”teardrop” headlights and ”halo” rear lights continue, but the front now sports an updated grille integrating a 4D radar sensor and enhanced cooling system. Buyers can choose from nine paint colors, including new Coastal Blue, Blazing Red, and Viridian Green options.

Wheel options range from 19 to 21 inches, with six designs to pick from. A new front trunk adds 105 liters of storage, opening remotely via app, voice commands, or automatically when the owner approaches.
Inside, the cabin gets an upgrade with premium materials and refined ergonomics. The steering wheel is wrapped in Nappa leather, while controls and speaker grilles feature metallic accents. There are four interior themes and a 3.6-meter-long panoramic ambient lighting strip that syncs with music and driving modes.

The seats have also been refined: the driver’s chair offers 18-way electric adjustments along with heating and ventilation. The front passenger seat features a ”zero gravity” setting with massage functions. Rear seats are softer, reclining up to 121 degrees with enhanced head support. Noise reduction is improved by multilayered glass, while the Max trim adds extra sound insulation.
The powertrain centers on a HyperEngine V6s Plus electric motor spinning up to 22,000 rpm. The SU7 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.08 seconds and tops out at 265 km/h. Range estimates under the CLTC standard are:
- Standard: up to 720 km
- Pro: up to 902 km
- Max: up to 835 km
Energy consumption can drop as low as 11.7 kWh per 100 km. Fast charging enables roughly 670 km of range in 15 minutes; a 10-80% charge takes about 12 minutes.

Driving dynamics get a boost from the Smart Chassis 2.0 adaptive suspension with multiple drive modes and adjustable ground clearance. Steering and brakes have been tuned for sharper responses. Safety features include wet-road detection and traction control systems that enhance stability.

The SU7 runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-based computing platform paired with NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor hardware, powering advanced driver assistance systems. It uses lidar, cameras, and radar sensors combined with Xiaomi’s XLA architecture for improved voice control and environment recognition.

On the safety front, the SU7 features a reinforced steel body rated to 2200 MPa strength, nine airbags, and a battery system engineered to prevent fire or explosions under extreme conditions. Currently, the Xiaomi SU7 is available only in China, with preorders open through Xiaomi’s online platforms. Prices are as follows:
- Standard: 219,900 yuan (approximately $31,800)
- Pro: price near the middle range
- Max: 303,900 yuan (approximately $44,000)
With its competitive range numbers, rapid charging, and advanced features, the updated SU7 marks Xiaomi’s deepening commitment to the electric vehicle space-an arena dominated internationally by Tesla, BYD, and legacy automakers pushing aggressive electrification. How the SU7 fares outside China, especially in Western markets accustomed to different safety and regulatory standards, remains to be seen.
Looking ahead, Xiaomi’s blend of technology from smartphone and AI lines into automotive hardware will be key to differentiating the SU7 amid intensifying competition. As prices for premium electric vehicles gradually drop, details like smart voice control, luxurious interiors, and efficient fast charging could carve a distinct niche-or risk sounding like more of the same in an increasingly crowded segment.
